The Delight House Cafe, Lewisham Way

The Delight House Cafe has just opened on Lewisham Way, next to the Tesco Metro.

The décor is attempting modern, but the offer is decidedly 80s old-school - buns, iced eclairs, ice cream and coffee.

The options are a little thin at this early stage but as a place for a bit of tea and cake with friendly staff, it's great.

I think it's a wonderful addition to Lewisham Way. Particularly this end. They started out in a much smaller corner building (opposite baby Tesco) and have moved into this lovingly refurbished unit. The cake and sandwich counter is brand new and sparkling. The staff are charming. Plus there is a lovely seating area in the back with leather sofas. You may say 80s but this end of Lewisham Way has nowhere to have a cozy coffee and I love cake! The previous shop was great but too small to relax. Yeah and congratulations to this new business. I popped my head in today to say congratulations and thank you. I'm too shy to eat cake on my own just yet.

But not shy enough to say congratulations and thank them? GO EAT SOME CAKE YOU SILLY WOMAN!

Too shy to eat cake on your own? What were you planing? Buying an enormous cream puff and then smearing it all over your face whilst making orgasm noises?

I just popped in and purchased two small almond cakes at only £1 each. I'm absolutely amazed - this is a real patisserie offering sophisticated delicacies and to my taste natural ingredients - far, far superior to anything offered in a Brockley cafe at twice the price. They must surely do their own baking because I haven't seen anything like this outside of central London. They deserve to be successful and I hope they will be.

I really don't think you'd have written in such condescending terms to a man, and neither does it seem like you have visited the cafe under review.

The offering is actually proper French patisserie and quality Italian gelato, together with a range of Vienoisserie (croissants, pain au chocolat and the like) and a few savouries such as croque Monsieur and paninis. The pastry chef is French-trained Algerian, apparently, and the cafe itself is a nice blend of French quality and North African friendliness. Combine this with a decent latte for £1.60....truly a hidden gem.

I came on here to see if anyone had tried the breakfast as I have only popped in for small sweet treats so far. The price and quality is excellent, I had an éclair and an almond thingy, treat yo' self!

I had a breakfast at that place as it was tasty .
Just for £5 you had an appetising breakfast including a very nice coffee . I think that coffee was such a good quality actually .
In my opinion that breakfast in other places you will not get it less than £8 .
Treat yourself Nick !!!

I finally tried the breakfast at Delight House today,
Unfortunately it was the worst breakfast I've ever had ANYWHERE.
Hopefully it was a one off but I would never risk having breakfast there again, will just stick to the sweet treats.
