Monkeyboy, I didn't see the last two series actually (yet another reason for the box set), I was very much into series one and two then I kind of shifted, still watched it occasionally but didn't manage to keep up.

Have you seen the episode of the Sopranos having an espresso at Starbucks and being horrified by the list of chocka moccaccino and other extremely unhortodox deviation from tradition?

I am more bothered by the quality of Tesco's organic chicken really, pretty lame for those money,
I give Sainsbury a 9/10 for quality of organic chicken, Tesco is way down the line with only 5/10 in my opinion.

Andy-when I was growing up in Africa we kept chickens on our farm but rather than snap their necks we cut their heads off. They then run around in circles for a couple of minutes flapping their wings hence the saying running around like a headless chicken.

My 'italian style chicken' comment was really two fingers up at the like of tescos etc. Just another example of 'dumbing down' a whole culture. I hate it.

Have anyone actually killed a chicken themselves? Ive seen it done many times at rural markets (esp in China). I dont think I could bring myself to do it. Poor little things.

I just misquoted, I checked and that's not a quote from Artusi, must have read it in another early cookery book that I think was called "the modern cook". Anyway, I thoroughly advise the Artusi to anybody interested in Italian cuisine since it's translated into English.
