I spy ...

BC loves spotting little oddities when out and about locally, and we thought we'd share a few with you. To start with - who can guess where this is?

(No prize for the first correct answer unfortunately, other than the smug satisfaction of knowing you're right ...)

Oooh, at a rough guess I'd say it's 50ft 8 inches south west of the old Borough of Deptford. Am I right?

you would be if that stone was where it's supposed to be...

Round the side of the plumbers shop on Brockley road. I quite often walk past it, and after a heavy session it makes a refreshing alternative to the nearby phonebox as a pissoir.

There's another old boundary stone thing at the northwestern corner of Hilly Fields.

Monkeyboy and anonymous 2 are both correct!

Enjoy the smug feeling while it lasts, guys ...

I like the blue shade of the wall behind the stone.

I wouldn't of got that.

"wouldn't have" or "wouldn't've", Andy, not "wouldn't of"!

blah blah blah...!

It's far too within the C zone for you to have cocked your leg up on it, catman!

So is there a story behind it?

Me? I never said nuffink!

But would have got it obviously.

How bizarre. I've lived on St Margarets Road (where that stone is) for several years, must have walked past the stone countless times, and the first time I noticed it was this morning - BEFORE I read this thread!

Spooky...

St Margaret's Anon - Brockley Central is just doing mind control - nothing to worry about...

Looking for another thread I stumbled on this one. Great minds. Took a photo of this stone the other day thinking "I will send that to Brockly Kate for her 'I spy' slot...". Will have to find something else for you.
