Brockley Police Station sold

Brockley Police Station is now sold and off the market. The handsome Howson Road property occupies a pretty big footprint and has sui generis use class, which means that whatever plans the buyers have in mind, they will need to be approved by the Council.

Just yards from Brockley Station, it would make a good location for offices, a restaurant or a bar, but odds are that the developers will be thinking in terms of flats...

I had a leaflet from them through the door yesterday. Ladywell/Crofton Park's number is 0208 284 8578

I suspect most of the people who were outraged by its sale were in the same boat.

When the idea of selling Brockley Police Station was previously mooted, we were told they were aiming to get a shop or similar location within the ward to be based from instead. Just wondering if that happened or they have been shunted to Lewisham station.

Ladywell Police station was turned into flats, so I wouldn't expect this to be different.

IMO a better solution would be units for business start ups at reduced rent.

This area is crying out for a gym and a few more restaurant, bars etc. But it will become flats.

Please note that this lovely building is not listed with English Heritage. It is only listed locally with the council which ofcourse means nothing in legal terms. I spoke to the developer last week who is threatening to demolish it and build flats. If you wish to save this building then please go the English heritage website and apply to save the building via its listing process. A Planning application si due to be submitted for the flats by the endof May 2014. You will need to move quickly!
