The Fox & Firkin garden

What better time to tell you about The Fox and Firkin's new(ish) garden, than the day after they had a massive party and when it's tipping down with rain?
Anyway, the Firkin (316 Lewisham High Street) has a huge new garden that opened this summer and helps to address the relative paucity of outdoor drinking venues in the area.

They are putting it and their late licence to good use, staging plenty of parties throughout the summer. Tomorrow night, they are hosting Beams for a night of breakthrough sounds until 1am.

I've just been moaning about lack of beer gardens round our way and it turns out I have one within a few hundred metres. Thankyou BC I'll be having a look (and it will now rain solidly for 10 months).

Great. I always feel a little silly posting these articles about a thing which isn't particularly new and which many people already know about, but then again, if they help people discover new things, that's all to the good.

Looks suspiciously like their old garden which has been there for years, if not always. What has changed?

Had a drink there a couple of weeks ago, it really is a lovely space. The management seem to be trying to broaden their appeal, if they could expand the selection of ales on offer it would help!

Looks like they have made the beer garden much bigger by expanding to the side which looks much better than before. However, the place isnt the same with the newish owners now that Carl isn't curating the bands and doing the pub quiz which he did for 15 years. Also, the food on offer is just pizzas so they are missing a trick there.
