Speedicars sign: End of Days

The Speedicars sign is terminated. Cllr Alexander has confirmed that Speedicars have agreed to take it down within two weeks and replace it with something better. Which goes to show what can be achieved with the application of a little Red Heat from local people.

The old sign represented a Raw Deal for the local streetscape and we can now expect a Junior version, hopefully at relatively little cost to the business.

Thanks to the Council for taking action and we hope that the resulting sign will be a big improvement.

Good news.

But it's not just Speedicars.

Wates's Biggest Sign in the World remains firmly in place at 103 Upper Brockley Road, even though I was sent a letter by the council's planning authority two months ago saying that the sign was in contravention of the rules, and an order would be enforced.

And the sign means the developers can't flog the flats hidden behind - they've lopped £30k off the asking price and still no biters ...

The Wates sign really is ridiculously massive. And the only place you can see it properly from is directly opposite, on the other side of the street, so it's far less effective than, say, a normal sign.

I think you'll find it can be seen from the moon.

I still think it was a fuss over nothing...

What does nsfr stand for then? No Standing For Regeneration?

Thank god for that, the sign has gone, sleep at last.
