BXAG AGM March 17th

Des from the Brockley Cross Action Group has been in touch:

"The AGM of the BCAG is rapidly approaching (Tuesday 17th March) and we are seeking the views of local residents as to the key theme for the meeting and who they would like as a keynote speaker. We have put a few suggestions on the home page of our website and would appreciate it if your readers could join the debate."

Our suggestion would be to go for the big guy - Mayor Bullock. What about yours?

We went to the last one and would recommend them to anyone.

I would really like to get more involved with this, but with full time work, part time study and part time home renovation I just wouldn't be able to commit the time. I wish them well, though, and support their efforts to make Brockers a[n even better] place.

Sorry for a downer, but good luck getting any such speaker at less than a month's notice and with St. Patrick's day and all I would have thought there were a lot of alternative attractions locally it might have been better to avoid.

Definitely Steve Bullock. I would be very interested to hear what he has to say about Brockley's needs. Ie. I'd like to see him recognise that we have some! And then I'd like to see him express support for BXAG's work.

Big Stevie opened the Ladywell Xmas Fair, why should he downsize and bother with Brockley?

Because the people in Brockley are wonderful, talented, hardworking and longsuffering.

Lest you forget: ditto all the other residents of Lewisham

Well good to hear you acknowledge that the people of Brockley are just as good as other areas in the borough.

Hopefully the Mayor will grace everywhere with his prescence at some point.

All people are equal in Lewisham and the Mayor wields the same broad brush of New Labour policies over us all.

Here's what you need to do if you'd like the Mayor to attend your wedding, funeral or bah mitzvah. Courtesy of the Lewisham Council twitterer:

I doubt he'd get out of bed for anything as trivial as a wedding, funeral or bah mitzvah - flog off a bit of council land or meeting with a property developer perhaps...

Looking on the Lewisham Website for something completely different I discovered that BXAG were responsible for that lovely poem in four foot high letters along the blank wall in Shardeloes. Great to have such an inspired piece of public art that does not scream "artist's ego" at you and gives pleasure every time you see it.
