Greenspaces: Blythe Hill Fields
SE23 1SN
Blythe Hill Fields completes the trio of hill-top parks running through this area, from New Cross to Honor Oak. Smaller, flatter, quieter, emptier and more gently-undulating than Hilly Fields, it offers the better views across London (and over Kings College's sports ground), despite being a little further away.
The children's play area, recently refurbished, is nicely done and is beautifully sheltered against the allotments next door.
Brockley Kate's green chain guide takes in Blythe Hill here. Visit the Friends of Blythe Hill Fields here.

The picture it is amazing
That picture can't be taken this year it's just not green and lush enough.......
Also handy for one of the area's best kept secrets the Blythe Hill Tavern.
Er the picture is nice enough, amazing is probably a little too strong a word!...
@TM - taken yesterday afternoon.
Isn't that in Catford?
Oh no, the postcode police are back! God, every time there's an article about somewhere that borders somewhere else, someone pops up to quibble.
For me, if you say Catford, people think of the Catford Cat, which is a long way from here. If you say Honor Oak, most people think of Honor Oak train station, which is very close.
It covers a few areas. The best thing to do is look at the map that the article links to. That's "where" it is. In the end, it doesn't matter what label you attach to it.
OK so the good weather brought about by the Olympics must have had more effect than i realised.
If you want to be picky, it's Crofton Park as far as electoral ward goes.
TM, the grass in our garden has gone dry and brown this week as well - clearly it's got used to the torrential rain and can't cope with dryish weather
For my money, Blythe Hill has the very best view of London. Lovely park.
One Tree Hill for my money.
Beautiful park with amazing oak trees and loads of conkers. With views of St Paul's Church, Canary Wharf and the London Eye. Great place for an afternoon picnic.
