Sunrise Cafe and Grafix Signs close

Sunset
Sunrise Cafe and Grafix Signs on Lewisham Way, opposite the Arthouse, have closed, joining the New Cross Bargain Centre, which has been vacant for some time. Grafix Signs looks like it might be reopening in some guise soon. Sunrise Cafe has been gutted.

Lewisham Way, especially the corner around Malpas Road, is really struggling at the moment. Kesar, the Indian / curry place next door to Red Planet pizza went bust recently as well. Now the cafe. And there's a planning approval pending to demolish the photo studio / garage on the other corner and replace it with a bunch of flats. Does all of this pressage a redevelopment along this stretch of street? Are rents being increased and forcing these shops out of business? Is the result an emerging urban wasteland?

How on earth is it possible that a town 2 stops away from the city and from canary wharf is so run down and looks like some forgotten 3rd world neighbourhood? I personally think that the council should become more active in attracting some bigger businesses. I believe they in turn would attract more residents who can afford a bit more than subsistence and who would support the local population more and improve the area.

Well, Grafix-Signs it's definitely one of the worst companies I've never seen in my entire life. We just can blame the owner of the company, it's a real scammer, seriously! He used to pick up junnior designers and never pay them for the jobs, also lots of people that never receive they jobs or money back! We need better business in the neighbourhood.
