Melancholy Star emerges in Brockley

Brockley's burgeoning creative industries cluster has recently been swelled by the arrival of Melancholy Star, a brand new independent animation & VFX studio.

The studio has recently appointed
Kostas Koutsoliotas, whose latest work on Flynn Productions directorial duo Karni & Saul’s music video for Flogging Molly’s latest single ‘Float’ won them the award for best Music Video at the Annecy Festival 2009:

Melancholy Star is
a Brockley-based studio and now boasts some of the hottest talent to emerge from Glasgow School of Art over the past 5 years. With the addition of Koutsoliotas to the already talented team, the company is equipped to handle almost any production scenario. The studio has a full book of work lined up and is looking to expand its portfolio of clients.

For more information, please visit the Melancholy Star website at or contact Sam Brace (Producer)

No, it's a news story. We're always talking about the lack of small businesses in Brockley, which are essential for the vitality of the area. So here's a new one.

Is it just me or is part of this article not written in standard Brockley Central font?

Sometimes, for reasons best known to itself, blogger buggers about with fonts.

Thanks for posting this Nick.

Just to clarify, we are a bunch of local 3D artists trying to start our own business. And that's it really. I promise none of us own fancy shirts. We thought it might be good to let people know we exist for a bit of networking. If anyone works with film or TV commissioning folks, please do point us their way.

Our showreel is available for viewing at

The showreel looks great. If I worked in TV I would give you some work. Sadly I don't.
