The wonderful council-run ladywell nursery, based in the Ladywell Children's Centre on Rushy Mead, has opened its waiting list after at least 2 years. And it's offering places now - but only confirmed until September 2012, as the Council is trying to close down all three nurseries that it runs. Residents are putting together proposals and a business case that we hope will mean it can stay open longer.
So, if you're looking for wonderful childcare til Sept give them a call. And if you're looking for childcare after Sept, you can put your child's name on the waiting list. My son was in the nursery from 11 months til he went to school, and it is WONDERFUL! And I've used a local private nursery too for my daughter, and it really doesn't come anywhere close in terms of the standards of care.

We are looking for someone to look after our two kids from September 2012. Our son is currently 3.5 years and our daughter is nearly 18 months. We live 5 mins walk from Brockley station.
We are currently looking at two options. Firstly, a part time nanny who will look after our daughter three days a week, all day and drop off and collect our son from school. We have a girl aged nearly four, who will be starting Stillness School in September, a boy who has just turned two, and our third child is due mid-September.
We are looking for a mother’s help/domestic help for approximately 14 hours a week spread over three days. This would include some shared childcare at home with Mum – basically being an extra pair of hands - and some sole responsibility childcare.
It's not necessary for the person to be a qualified nanny as the position is as much about sharing the overall workload of running a house, as it is about pure childcare: for example, we would love to find someone with a willingness to cook - not just for the children but for the parents too - and also do some cleaning. Whatever it takes that between us we can make the household run smoothly!
In other words, we need someone who will really muck in and do whatever needs doing, be that taking the kids to playgroup, the park, or other fun activity, or hanging out the washing, preparing meals, tidying up and doing the school run. The reason we're not advertising for a straight 'nanny' job is that childcare is just one aspect of the position, albeit a key one.
We feel that it is important for the children to be comfortable with the new arrangement before the baby comes along and turns their lives upside down. For this reason we would hope to find someone happy to do around 6 hours a week until the end of August while we get to know each other, and then 14 hours a week from the beginning of September on. We would like someone to start as soon as possible, but are prepared to wait to find the right person.
While there can be some degree of flexibility, ideal times for us from September would be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, including two days of 3pm – 7.30pm (4.5 hrs) and one day of 8.30am – 1.30pm (5 hrs).
We live between Honor Oak Park station and Crofton Park station, SE4.
Pay is according to experience, qualifications and references.

I am 24 years old with 2,5 years childcare experience from 8 month to 12 years. I am very energetic, friendly, outgoing, creative and patient person. I have previous experience as a nursery assistant and excellent references on request. I am CRB checked and First aid trained soon will be ofsted registered. Currently I am working in Brockley as a nanny, I know the parks nearby /Hilly field, Telegraph hill/ and a few playgroup /rainbow drop in, bear cubs, little fishes/ there.
I am looking for babysitting and full time nanny job as well.
In the mean time I am taking care of two girls until July as the younger girl is going to start her first year in the school and the family wont need me any more from that time. Right now my availabilities are Friday from 4.30 and weekends, school holidays for babysitting. And I am available for full time nanny job or nanny share from the beginning of August.

Hi everyone,
We are currently looking for a new family to share our nanny with.
Jackie has been with us since January and the other family we
currently share with, for over 3 years. Unfortunately their little
daughter will go to school full time from September and we need to find a
new share.
Jackie is absolutely loving and caring to our daughter and Zosia loves
spending time with her. Loads of play time, cuddles, activities
inside/outside the house, always out and about keeping the kids active
and happy. She is firm but fair and good manners are high on the list :)
We are absolutely delighted with her approach and could not praise her
more! The best proof is our daughter's massive smile every time they are
together.
She is OFSTED registered and has all the checks; clean driving license and uses her own car.
We need a share from September and Jackie can only do four days a week
(Mon-Thu), currently we have her with our daughter from 8-6:15pm but
flexible on days and hours for the share.

I'm Maryanne, mum of a lovely toddler living in Brockley close to Sir John Stainer school. We currently childmind twice a week for a five year old after school but for the end of term summer break we will be free to take care and play with a friendly local child any day of the week. I'm also available for evening babysitting.
I am in the process of registering as a Childminder and in the meantime I hold a current personal licence (I was a venue manager previously) which required CRB for attainment.
