Brockley Common Party, Saturday 4th September

Brockley Common is a living, breathing tribute to hope over despair. To the spirit and excellence of the people of Brockley and the tenacity of the Brockley Cross Action Group. Come and celebrate the day that cigarette butts gave way to blossom, next Saturday with a public party from 12pm - 6pm.

What's that big trifid like weed that's sprouted up? I don't do nature so dunno.

Does look a lot better now, did i see some kind of ivy thing starting to cover the concrete wall? That will help.

Someone should "guerilla" plant some fast growing ivy to cover the ticket office, anything to soften its Soviet Russia-like concrete edges...

The Brockley Common project has made the common space so much better; I can't make it on Saturday but MANY THANKS to all involved! [More cherry mosaics please]

Indeed, as someone totally uninvolved with this Brockley Cross glorification campaign, I have been observing the progress of the work with a 'whats all this, then' casual curiosity as I pass by Brockley station.

It certainly seems worth celebrating. All those plants make a big difference and greatly improve the area. Well done to everyone who worked on it. A very good example of a community project.

I agree they should pull down that ticket office or hide behind some suitably abundant foliage.

Local band Ventilato are now playing some mellow tunes as the sun gently sets over the common. Come and see the mosaic cross made today.

This was a really nice event, loads of good vibes. An artist called Foy Vance played, its amazing that such a little event could pull in such an huge talent.

We are pretty lucky living here, in Brockley.
