47 and N199 to go all night

With the Jubilee Line becoming an all-night service from September, TfL is proposing to extend the operating hours of two local bus routes, to link up with Canada Water.

This consultation document shows that the 47 and the N199 will offer extended services, with the former running every 30 minutes all night to Bellingham and the latter running every 30 minutes towards Bellingham, except on Fridays and Saturdays, when they will be running every 20 minutes.

The East London Line will start running all night to New Cross from 2017.

The best thing about this is gaining a night bus route to Shoreditch and Liverpool Street! Nice to have an extra direct route from East to South East London!

Isn't there already an n47 which goes into town? Does this mean they're cutting that one?

Iain, the existing N47 doesn't go to Shoreditch like the daytime one: the current night bus starts in Trafalgar Square then goes to London Bridge, I think. Making the daytime one 24 hours will make it much more convenient getting home from the East End.

Then, the N199 will compensate for the N47 no longer going from the West End.

I followed the link. The N199 will go to Trafalgar square, so it's going to be OK.

This is so badly need. There is a single night bus at the moment. However, the should extend the new n478 to dalston/ severn sisters. would make so much more useful.

I wish they would make the N171 a 20 minute frequency. It's a real pain when you either can't get on at Camberwell or just miss it at New Cross.
