Aladdin's Cave, Lewisham Way

Aladdin's Cave is the reclamation yard on Lewisham Way, not to be confused with the Aladdin's Cave cafe in Crofton Park.

Having admired its life-size model of Predator for years, we went in there for the first time yesterday, on a chair hunt. The place is mind boggling. An Escher drawing of chair legs, a tunnel of fridges, a garden of kitchen equipment and a menagerie straight out of a Jean-Pierre Jeunet film.

It's the sort of place we're really glad exists, but which we lack the wit and ingenuity to make use of. We left chairless, overwhelmed by the variety of chairs and wondering how they fitted everything in.
