We've rented a ground floor flat in the Brockley conservation area (Avon Road). It has four double bedrooms, a WC and separate shower room, large lounge with kitchen off it and a patio and garden which the flat opens out on to. I’m moving out of my room unexpectedly and need to find somebody to move in ASAP. It’s a gorgeous double room on New Cross Road, with a fitted wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table and bed, with wooden flooring and loads of light. The two remaining flatmates are both guys in their mid twenties. They’re really friendly and sociable, but also work quite long hours sometimes and don’t really want midweek flat parties until 3am. But they do like the pub. Which is convenient because we live opposite one. One of them in particular is very good at cooking and buying records by bands I've never heard of. And the other one is very good at winning pub quizzes and buying everybody Easter eggs when it’s not actually Easter.The flat has a livingroom / kitchen, and a large flatscreen television. There’s also a large picture of Katy Perry on the wall. I’m not entirely sure if this is a good or a bad thing. We're moving away from Ladywell at the beginning/middle of August and want to rent our lovely three bedroom flat out. I'm urgently looking for a flat for my mother, Alexandra, who's in her 80s and been given notice to quit her flat in Wickham Road after 18 years (where I was for 9 years before that). The landlords want the flat back. She has until the end of August to find another place. It needs to be ground floor, basement or, maximum, 2nd floor. She is a retired journalist/editor on a national newspaper and advertising copywriter (of some well-known ads and lines). After retirement she had a few problems so her rent is paid by Housing Benefit. I guess Housing Benefit might make some potential landlords hesitant but she's been a good tenant and it's secure rent.
