Speed-dating Valentine's Party for Brockley's under-8s

Tea Dance 4 Little People is hosting an unusual children's event to celebrate Valentine's Day. We took our kids to one of their Halloween parties and were really impressed with the energy they put in to the event, which was as much a piece of theatre as a party. This Valentine's theme is likely to create debate...

Very strange concept, not sure if I'm comfortable with 'speed-dating' for the under 8's!

Speed dating for under 8s - I can see the Daily Mail headline now...

Or a Mumsnet campaign mobilising.

In execution, I am sure the event will be perfectly harmless and charming.

For the children it's just another "play-date" and for the parents they can think "oh, how cute!".

I'd be more worried about the drug centre opening across the road ...

Will it also host Islamic under-8 weddings?

Good one!

hmm, good marketing ploy in terms of courting controversy by tapping into the adulfication of kids angst that pervades the media.
But i wouldn't send my kids to something marketed like this. It's just a bit unnecessary.

*Long ranty comment supporting the event here, but I've deleted it because I can't be dealing with the ranty responses from the mental Daily Mail brigade*

I don't read the Daily Mail - or any other right wing rubbish - but I do think the theme is a little inappropriate for little ones.

You should have seen the slagging off I got on Mumsnet. Never again.

This is just weird, why would any child be interested in this and why would any parent?

Haha awh it's sweet no one's going to get nooky, their under 8 unless their parents let them which I doubt... People in Brockley never fail to amuse me (I'm 18 and have lived here my entire life) somebody always seems to be up in arms about something.. There's always a petition stopping something! Very arty farty are some of the residents!

Bloody kids. When I was 18 I was masturbting furiously while looking at my dads copy of Razzle. Good honest recreation, not skateboarding with my jeans round my arse.

Lighten up everyone, it's just a valentines themed kids party, don't take everything so literally!

I still do that now. Dad hates me reading over his shoulder though.

Darn it- someone beat me to the Gary Glitter joke...

I trust their Diversity Coordinator will be on hand to make sure no child is excluded by the heteronormativity of this event.

This thread is a new low. I honestly don't know why I bother reading this tripe.

Nick - what price for quantity over quality?
It might be lively here, but so is feeding time at the zoo.

Think, I'm going to steer clear of comments here and just read the headlines from now on.
