Brockley Cross latest
We've had a few enquiries about the status of the Brockley Cross redevelopment project, which is due to start this month.
Lewisham Council's contractors were on site recently, investigating drainage in the area, in preparation for work to begin in earnest. When we spoke to the workmen at that time they said they expected work to begin shortly, as planned.
We'll update the site when we have a confirmed start-date.

Sadly we know how good LBL's contractors are; look at the dogs dinner they made of the station approach.
What about the trees that are supposed to be planted along Brockley Road (opposite the Brockley Barge)?

The trees for the High Street are not part of the BX works but another project as I recall.
Does anyone know when these trees are going in? I thought it was supposed to be last year...
a semi-hijack, but is anyone else worried that the new exit for the station seems to have been designed by f*wits who've never spent much time here?
We have a real chance to open out that exit, but instead it looks like we're going to have to funnel through a narrow white shed to get out directly from the platform. admittedly it's a little wider than the current gate. I don't see why it needs to be so narrow.
And it's pointed at Foxberry Rd, so anyone trying to go through on to the west side over the footbridge has further to go around. At the moment the gate is at least right next to the new steps.
It's a matter of metres, but it makes a difference when you use it every day
Hope some of the drainage they're investigating is that bit outside the front of the station, near where the new gates are going in - turns into a lake after rain, whoever designed that stretch of the pavement should be forced to sleep there.
I thought the plants are part of different project, but will be put in at the same time as TFL has agreed to do the digging.
Brockley Road trees and Brockley Station redevelopment are unrelated projects, but I will try to find out more about the trees.
And I agree with the points about the station design.
Is there actually a grand plan for the station - looks like it's being done in bits and bobs with no overall plan
Best BC suggestion for a while: make the designer sleep in the puddle.
Yeah, the design for the platform 2 exit really is very odd. With all that space alongside the platform, they could have installed several more barriers; it looks as though they're going to manage 2 + a wide pushchair/luggage one, tops. And it's angled very oddly, too.
I was wondering the other day, did they need planning permission for this and if so, did anyone see the plans before they were approved? I can't remember seeing them. Surely Brockley residents could have had some input into this, since it makes such a big difference to the appearance of the station?!
Lewisham councils contracters!!! Ha Ha HaHA HA HA! Not holding my breath for some decent work
