Not Brockley Central: Homemade London
Brockley Nick here...
Homemade London is the place that was at one point going to be located in Brockley, but is instead up near Marble Arch on a wonderful little street called Seymour Place.
It's run by by my wife and would not have happened without the support and inspiration we've had from many people we've met through Brockley Central - from the local entrepreneur group we spoke with to the Creative Mums Network that Nicola started, from Ross at Browns of Brockley and Richard at The Royal Albert to Ed at The Orchard and many more people who've given us their advice along the way. There are also some local designers and craftspeople who are going to be teaching there.
The shop opens soon and the site (designed by Deptford production house Raw Nerve) is now live, so you can register for more details when it launches.
Let's hope people like it or I'm doing a Murdoch and putting up paywalls on Brockley Central.

@Brockolian - no need, with the East London Line connection at Canada Water, it's never been easier to get to Bond Street - just a short walk to Seymour Place ;)
what a great initiative. i'll be spreading the word to friends. will you have a link on the site for people who want to offer a workshop? (if so, prepare to be innundated!)

sorry - what is it?
It offers craft courses, sometimes with a drink and sometimes a bite to eat. Social, fun - not dissimilar to cookery courses. Not difficult if you read the web page or are you possibly just being an arse?
Is it a shop or a school?
Very succinctly put, Anon 08.24, thanks. I'd add that the emphasis will be on making something you want to keep, wear, give or use - not just because of your sense of accomplishment at having made it yourself, but because it's genuinely nice.
So to answer the latest anon's question, it's a little of both, depending on your point of view - there will be a few things to buy, but its core offer is classes.
In the heart of London's West End? Marble Arch?
Covent Garden, Charing Cross road, Leicester Square where are they then?
Oh give over. Just-off Oxford Street, behind Selfridges is just as much the heart of the West End as Covent Garden.
if you say so...it's not my understanding of where the West End is though. Perhaps I'm wrong but I thought the West End was theatre-land.

A quick google has indeed confirmed that Marble Arch is the west end. I didn't realise it extended that far. In fact the west end area is much larger than I previously thought. I hold my hands up - sorry to get your hackles up.

Christ I bet your a hit at parties. I suggest you look at a map if you're worried about getting lost. I understand that londons underground railway has a number of links that are most excellent.
Monkeyboy - no need to take that tone. It was a genuine double take when I read that - people on this site complain about whether Crofton park is Brockley - or Telegraph Hill is Brockley. So it's not an alien concept to question why something should be described as the heart of the west end when my belief was that it didn't even qualify as the west end.
It wouldn't hurt for some of the users on here to show some humility from time to time.

It is the West End - and close to Marylebone Lane which has (or had - I hope it's still there) one of the nicest furnishing fabric shops ever. Lovely stuff.

I think this ia an absolutely wonderful idea. I salute you and your wife, Nick. I really do. Very well done for acting and not just talking, or like the rest of us here, typing.
What a screaming shame it isn't in SE4 - our loss - but I think you will do extremely well over in W1 and, as you say, it is pretty handy for all of us too.
By the way, talking of new businesses, Magi are renting out a back room for a beautician. Thank goodness. THere has been a big gap in the market there for some time and someone' s going to do very well as a result.
Sorry to derail your thread. London Homemade looks fantastic and is a great idea, totally capturing how we all feel right now.
In terms of courses etc, one for making shoes I think was advertised in a local periodical last week. 500 quid for 3 days. I thought very steep but maybe others are prepared to pay it or the materials are v dear or something.
