New Arica Road Community Garden

Yesterday, a ceremony was held to officially open the Arica Road Community Garden. The project was initiated by local people, funded by a £5,000 grant from Lewisham Homes and supported by the Bold Vision project. This video tells its story.

We love simple incremental projects like this, which re-imagine tatty or neglected local spots to make Brockley a better place.

With thanks to Debra for the nudge.

They are very lucky that the land was not seized upon to be stuffed with flats.

A much better use of space. Happy to help with the fundraising for the benches and nets for the goals.

We can now only wait for Lou to blow the cold wind of reality over this project . . . and for Nick to agree with him, eventually, as usual, but then later deny it.

Ah yes, the classic dynamic. Such as that other time, when...?

A great story, well done to all involved. @Anon 19.18 - for goodness sake, give yourself a name and ease off on the conspiracy theories ;)

Oh come on, I can't be the only one to want to know how the money was spent?

Well it's a proper charity with accounts. You can ask.

Do you have any reason to believe that funds were mis spent or are you unable to believe that a local group are not on the make?

Arica Road? Where's that?

Oh, just looked on Google Maps. It's the side of Brockley no one knows about!

Shamefully this is closer to the truth. For the second time in 2 weeks there is a loud-arse party on the green. Bass thumping R+B, kids screaming. Our own kids holed up our bed at the front of the house so they can actually get some sleep. Us with the windows shut and tv on, still all you can hear is the all night party party.

Yes it's the side of Brockley we don't want you to know about. Keeps the Conservation area riff raff out.
