The Deptford Project, 121-123 Deptford High Street

Brockley Kate reported from the Deptford Project's opening night but this is the first time we have had the opportunity to visit and thought it would be would sharing some pictures of what it looks like when it's not in party mode. It's a cleverly-designed place, with nice attention to detail and which makes great use of the site, to offer an urban retreat from Deptford High Street. It's surprisingly cosy inside on a cold day. Nice cheesecake.

I stumbled across the railway carriage cafe by accident last year. It's a fantastic idea and adds something truly original to Deptford.
Incidentally,in Shoreditch there's an Underground carriage perched on top of a building. I think it's used as office space.
I rate it and have been there quite a few times for a cuppa after swimming at the nearby Wavelengths pool. The food and drink is adequate but the setting makes the visit worthwhile. That said, the Laban caff is better still. Higher quality nosh and a great glass-walled, high-ceilinged space to sit in which overlooks the creek and with a ddecent incidence of dancer types and yum mums about the place (not that I would dream of perving).
The loo is fun too.
Just don't go there if you are in a hurry, as the service can be rather slow.
Coffee great, details great, atmosphere good, buzz good, service only occasionally approaches competence.

Yep, been there for a spot of food which was good. Large slab of quiche with salad bits. Good addition to the area. Never tried the Laban caff though.
