Miracle on Shardeloes Road

The Old Trawlerman tells us that the road-maintenance fairies have relaid Shardeloes Road today - no fuss, no muss:

They have basically done the whole section between Brockley X and Vesta Rd in a day and a half with minimal disruption - astounding, I know. Looks really good, especially as the old surface was so bad. The speed bumps have also gone for now, but not sure if they are being added later. My house has stopped shaking when buses come past, very pleasant!

Oh please let them come and do Catford Hill, the potholes are terrible, my house shakes so much, I feel like it will fall down one day. Lucky you

Why would it be unpleasant to have your house 'stop shaking'?

Until they finish doing the other 9/10ths of Tyrwhitt Road - back of the queue, please.

Let's hope they finish the rest of the Shardeloes road, right up to lewisham way. I saw a bus blow a tyre when it hit a drain cover due to the road surface crumbling away.

timmy2wheels,

Sorry I disagree, Shardeloes is far busier than Tyrwhitt, what with it being a main bus route. More than happy for them to do your road but Shards is higher priority.

Great that they've finally done it, it's been like a Roman road for years. Word of caution though, it was only a light resurfacing and not a proper rebuild. How long it will last with the volume of traffic, or if it gets very cold and iced up again, remains to be seen. Still, enjoyed cycling along it tonight!

Anon, the claim was not made about any particular business (those that were, were removed), nor is it unfounded. Nonetheless, it has been removed.

The best drug dealers all live in the conservation area anyway.

Yes Tyrwhitt is a sleepy backwater peopled by yokels driving their horses and carts, unlike the Golden Triangle that is Brockley Cross.

Cycling along that road is so much faster without the trenches crossing it!
