Notes of an Idealist reports that the shop next to Sweeney's Cafe on Ewhurst Road has been replaced by a shop specialising in Polish products, called U Gosi.
Just a little correction to this story. It's actually the shop next door to the cafe. The shop used to be some form of security business. The cafe is still empty as is the old estate agents at teh otehr end although this did have some work done ot it awhile ago.I did hear a rumour that the old Kriss Kutz shop was going to be turned into a Fish Mongers but have heard nothing since.
Ah, thanks Chris.
Selling Polish produce will probably do well around here.
Fish monger sounds good and would sit well near the butcher...
Brockley residents love Polish - they have their butlers rub it into their dining tables every day.
'Crofton Carp of Crofton Park' would be a great name for a fishmongers.
Or how about "Fishmung"
Arrrrr, that would be Mungfish. Fishmung is what we sailors use as lubricant on the long trawls.Arrr.
Where can I buy some of this mungfish?
Brockles and Mussels perhaps?
I have a little fantasy that those empty shops on Ewhurst Road will be filled by a deli, a greengrocer, a health food store and a fishmonger, to complement the excellent butcher. Middle class heaven!
Delicious Polish ham ....:)
It looks like the shop has now closed--the shutters were up this afternoon and there was a 'To let' sign as well. I've added a photo of the evidence to the bottom of my posting at http://wp.me/pBfTB-wT.
