Blythe Hill is close to Honor Oak
and Crofton Park and is accessed from a road called Brockley View
Oh yawn, not the Brockley boundary debate again. Anyone from Brockley most welcome to travel up Brockley Rise, go to Brockley view, watch the Brockley Rise Singers and enjoy the view of 'real' Brockley from the top of Blythe Hill.

It is in Catford though. I live on Adelaide Avenue - the name doesn't make it Australia!
In addition, Blythe Hill Fields is on top of Brockley Hill, so named for aeons.
It was renamed Blythe Hill when Blyth House and grounds made way for housing.
Not that it matters. Don't want to leave Brockley SE4, don't come. You'll also find it hard to visit Brockley Jack Theatre in Crofton Park ... etc.
Calm down. There's nothing wrong with being in Catford. Be proud!
Urbansurgery, Brockley Jack theatre in Crofton Park is also SE4. Just one big happy BC family. Two parks, two fayres, what's not to like.
Catford has more honest fare compared to Brockley Cross.

Nick declares it daft the Friends because they have a no politics rule and refused to take PBP money for a stall.

I understand they have a warehouse full of muffins that they can't shift after their-cafe-that-isnt-their-cafe closed.

I'm actually a Friend of Blythe Hill Fields, albeit a rather non-active one. Trust a rag like the News Shopper to make a story out of PBP's whinge that they couldn't get a stall!
We don't get it anymore which is fortunate as it makes the Greenwich Mercury, er, sorry Lewisham Mercury, look like the New York Times.
The festival is lovely and growing every year. I'm very sorry to have to miss it on Saturday as it's a very dear relative's big birthday do and I'm away. I particularly like the local history stall.
Can somebody post a link to the News Shopper article. I am the Secretary of the Friends of Blythe Hill Fields and explained our policy to him at the time.
I do not want to descend into a slanging match but I would have thought People Before Profit would have respected a democratically made decision not to have political parties at the festival given that democratic accountability is an important part of their manifesto.
PBP don't respect the decisions of a democractically-elected Council either...
I'm confused, is this the same Nick Long who is also a member of the local Green Party, and is a Housing Manager for Lewisham Council?
If so, and he is now speaking for PDF, how can he reconcile the PDF squatting action of Lewisham housing on Friendly Street with the responsibilities of his day job?
Or perhaps there are multiple Nick Long's?

Well done to the organisers of this. A stylish community event.
A big thank you to everybody who attended the festival last Saturday.
The weather held off and we had a bumper crowd in the end.
Hopefully it was enjoyed by everybody but please let me know if you have any suggestions on how to improve the festival for when it is next held.
I have a couple of lost property items that I am holding if anybody has lost a red floral Cath Kidston bag or a grey and green Kangol Hoodie. Please let me know if these are yours.

A special thank you to everybody who volunteered to help out as putting on the festival would not be possible without the help of these volunteers.
I will post the date of our next meeting shortly but it is likely to be some time in September.
Friends of Blythe Hill Fields wouldn't take money from People Before Profit. Didn't know that.
And I also didn't know Friends of Blythe HIll Fields exclude stall holders with political themes. OK that's all fine. So tell me this.
Two years ago I attended the Blythe Hill Fields Festival and saw the stall for the Womens Institute.
No politics or profit for some organisations but the Friends of Blythe Hill have no problem accepting money and supporting the more than questionable politics of Freemasons.
