"Community Rights" in New Cross

Jennifer writes:

New Cross Community Council invites you to come along to our meeting on Wednesday the 14th of December at 7:30pm in Deptford Town Hall.

We'll have three speakers - Angela Harrowing, Jess Steele and Steve Shaw - talking about new legal rights for community groups and neighbourhoods, and the support available to community groups. This will be followed by an open discussion that you can participate in.

Come and discover and discuss what this means for New Cross!

Angela Harrowing - Policy advisor on the Community Right to Challenge in the Department for communities and local government
DCLG aims to foster prosperous and cohesive communities, offering a safe, healthy and sustainable environment for all.

Jess Steele - Innovation Director at Locality
Locality is the UK's leading network for community-led organisations. They believe that every community is a place of possibility.

Steve Shaw - National co-ordinator at Local Works
Local Works is a coalition of over 100 national organisations campaigning to promote the use of the radical and exciting new Sustainable Communities Act.

This is great stuff, I continue to be impressed at how New Cross people are organising themselves and standing up for themselves as a community.
