Ladywell Tavern wins Pub of the Year

Congratulations to the Ladywell Tavern, which won "Best Pub" at the 2010 Lewisham Mayor's Business Awards.

The Ladywell Tavern has enjoyed a successful renovation that both caters to long-standing regulars and provides a warm welcome to the more casual punter.

The landlord Monty has shown impressive entrepreneurial flair by turning disused space in to the excellent Tank gallery and his team were excellent hosts for the Brockley Central music night at last year's Brockley MAX.

less impressed with the quiz, think that was my teams fault though.

Well done Monty!

The quiz was a bit problematic last Tuesday - there were lots of people who were in there to eat and have meetings (three local community groups had mtgs in there that evening!). This made running the quiz slightly difficult.

LVIG will be holding a fund-raising quiz night at the Ladywell Tavern shortly (date TBC) - it'll be a local quiz for local people! Come on down and pit your wits against other locals and compete to show how local you really are!

I reckon you should do another Brockley Central Night there. It was a great night.

Thanks Anon - we're hoping to do another music night there as part of the MAX. We just need to confirm a date and start finding some acts.

Last time I did the quiz at the Ladywell Tavern, the quizmaster claimed that Poland had a coastline on the Adriatic Sea. Howls of outrage from the crowd ensued.

Visited for the first time on Wednesday evening (Burger night) with a lady-friend and we fully intend to return at the weekend to try the Sharp's Doom Bar which was unavailable at the time. Woodford's Wherry and Summer Lightning were also on - the manager knows how to look after his pipes. The Ladywell Tavern has a much more homely feel than some pubs do; the armchairs, games and books help in this regard. There was a broad spectrum of clientele and the atmosphere came across as welcoming and friendly. The food was good quality - we had the generous burgers and another party of 5 sitting nearby had a variety of different meals and there were no complaints there either. The kitchen got busy later on but the staff kept people updated as to when to expect their food. Service at the bar, as well as to the table, couldn't be faulted.
