Remembering the New Cross Fire 30 years on

The Albany, Deptford, Friday 14 January 2011
The New Cross Fire killed 13 young black people during a birthday party in a house in New Cross, south-east London on Sunday January 18, 1981.

Kwame Kwei-Armah will host an evening of music, film and spoken word to remember the lives of the lost and examine the impact the fire has had on the lives of Britons today.

Guests include Menelik Shabazz (Burning an Illusion) plus performances from the Queens of Lovers Rock, Carroll Thomson & Janet Kay.

With thanks to Mike for letting us know.
