Brockley Common - the work begins in earnest
Rupert from the Brockley Cross Action Group is looking for volunteers to help with the planting of Brockley Common. What better way of showing a more positive side of Brockley life than the community turning out in force to enhance the area? If you'd like to be involved, here are the details:
Lewisham Envirowork, our partner in this project, are starting their preparatory works (protective fencing, compost, topsoiling etc) next week, w/b 19 April.
Their quote for the works has been accepted and they are currently programming the work into their already busy schedule. That means that we will not be carrying out any community planting this coming weekend - it is most likely that this will have to be deferred to the following weekend, 24th and 25th April.
However this gives us an opportunity to have a final weeding session this coming weekend, this time to weed the upper planting bed above the ramp following our excellent work on the lower bed at the end of March. So do please come along and join us on Sunday 18th April, 2.00pm-6.30pm. I think the weather is set fair so please come and help us! As ever all tools and gloves will be provided, just bring stout footwear. BXAG will provide refreshments at 4.00 at the Broca.
