Honor Oak shooting
Telegraph Hill Cllr Paul Bell says on Twitter:
Shocked: there has been a shooting this afternoon in Turnham Road on the Honor Oak Estate; 4 arrests. 1 victim in hospital - not fatal.
We will bring you more details when we can.

All police taped off earlier, squad cars everywhere.
I'm confused, surely Turnham Road is more Brockley than Honor Oak? Or is that just the name of the estate? Giving lovely Honor Oak Park a bad rap here people.. now stop shooting one another and act like decent human beings with actual morals please.
was wondering what had happen earlier when i was coming home thank god the children are of school
Just some kids messing about.
There seem to be conflicting reports/rumours, one saying it was a six year old girl shot and the other (on news shopper) saying a 20 year old man shot in the leg.
Anyone have and ideas which is true?
And to anon @16:41, I don't think anything involving a shooting could be classed as 'messing about'....
I guess that the fact it isn't all over the national news already means it's more likely to be the 20 year old man than the 6 year old girl...

Sirens again now.
In the last six months either on my street or a minute from my house I've had a daylight mugging, a daylight stabbing and now a daylight shooting. Brockley is going down the toilet.
... and no police patrolling the streets. Since I live in Brockley I forgot what their uniforms look like.
During the day, I see a lot of policemen and women patrolling the roads in Brockley (esp. around Beecroft Rd/ the footbridge over to Turnham). Often on bicycles.
Well we better turn the place into a police state because nothing can ever go wrong then can it.
Why have you described as Honor Oak when it's closer to Brockley station than half of the conservation area? It may be on the Honor Oak estate but that was always a misnomer anyway.
A group of kids hang around between the hostel and the "night" garage on harefield mews.
Recently they have decided that the roads around the station are part of a night motorbike GPrix circuit, complete with accidents with local cars. I bet the new owners of the MOD bunker will be pleased when they move in.
Those kids have been around that area for years, some of them live in one of the houses at the bottom of Cranfield. I've never had any trouble off them, and very little noise. They seem respectful to me. Don't know what you're complaining about!
Honor Oak estate has been so named since it was built over 75 years ago. It is named after the oak tree that stood on the top of One Tree Hill, which is just a short distance south of the estate. The station is south of the hill and is named for the same tree. The people of the Estate have just as much right to the name as the residents of Honor Oak Park, I'm afraid, Anon.
I hope the young person shot is making a good recovery.
I find this whole thing quite depressing . I was walking down there with my two young children , an hour before this happened .
I can't wait to get out of here . Drug and sex offender hostels , stabbings , muggings , flashers ,nice place to live eh ??
Great place for kids to grow up.
My kids grow up here and I am very happy about that.
Anons at 16.36 and 10.04..
Brockley Mews (in Honor Oak) gets reported as Brockley..!
Each to their own , Nick .I am thinking of my children's safety above anything else.
I'm interested as to where you would like to bring up your children? Are you really so naive to think that Brockley has significantly more crime than anywhere else in London?
Anon @13:45 let us know if you find this mythical place where none of these things happen. Moving out of London, in fact moving out of any sizable town?
Again, it's only because of this Blog and services like Twitter that these things are even heard about by most people. I had no idea there were flashers reported or there were any hostels near me. increased knowledge of whats happening around tyou is not the same as an increased incident.
When you find a borough (or indeed city or town) that doesn’t have any drug and sex offender hostels, stabbings, muggings or flashers, let me know. I think I might be waiting a while though...
If you look for the negative of any area you can find it (oh, and drug and sex offender hostels aren't necessarily a negative).
As I said , I was walking on Turnham Rd an hour before this happened . Thank God it was not later.
I have lived in several areas of London ( South and North ) and have never ever heard of so many crimes or felt so uneasy on certain streets . There is a general "attitude" and an air of unfriendlyness about this place.
There must be someone who agrees with me !!
Pehaps it is because I have young children that I am so aware of it -primal instinct or the like .
"..never ever heard of so many crimes..."
Yes, hyperlocal blogs like this are great for picking up every jumble sale, tree felling and crime. Check out the 'local' London BBC news. Not a word about this latest incident.
Not saying Lewisham is a low crime area or suggesting complacency but perception of crime is not same as actual crime level.
And without wanting to trivialize what sounds like a serious incident, even if you were walking past later, what do you think would have happened? Again, I may be jumping to conclusions but I'm guessing the 20 year old man wasn't just an innocent passer-by.
Ever heard of cross fire "D"?
Yep, but in Brockley a gun is discharged on the streets maybe 5 times a year? The chances of you passing the path of one of those five bullets at exactly the wrong time are unbelieveably small (obviously if you're hanging out with gangs on street corners then that will rise). You'd be far more likely to win the lottery, and I can't see that happening anytime soon either. Of course it does sometimes happen but my point really was that after an incident such as this, you and your family are exactly as safe/at risk as you were before it.
Give the (other) Anon a bit of a break - he / she has obviously been a bit shaken by it. There are some areas of the UK where a gun is not discharged 5 times a year. Maybe not in London mind!
Does it really matter where it is? Bloody heck sure there's bigger things to worry about.
Anon, I do agree with your understandable worry about walking around the area with small kids. I'm the same as you...was within walking distance just shortly before, often in the area with my two. D, from what I've been told there was a 6 year old girl sitting in one of the cars in front of the barbers at the time the gun went off. The bullet broke the glass of one of the cars next to the one she was sitting in. Could easily have been a different outcome. Yes the odds of being hit by crossfire are small, but higher than I'd like.
I'd have to say D that I'm not at all comfortable with guns being discharged at all.
Kids? no, me neither.
But then theres that 'empathy' thing.
Get out of ere then save ur money n move out of council housing. Beggars can't b choosers
I'm from turnham I'm 23 n know everyone on the estate n I know that turnham is a family environment so if u feel like ur unsafe jog on we don't need ppl like u around u make things worse
