New Supperclub for Brockley [UPDATED]

BC reader Jullie and organiser of Going for a Song is setting up a supperclub for the area. She first told us about her plans when we met her at the recent Royal Albert pub quiz. Now she's unveiled the details:

It's part pop-up restaurant, part dinner party. A tasty and fun experience. It'll be held in Brockley / New Cross / Telegraph Hill (I'm on the border of all three) in my cosy house (or garden, weather permitting).

Our supperclub has a twist, in that every other event will be for single people, but we promise, no forced fun, or silly games. Just vino, chatting, nice food and good company.

Our first dates are:

Saturday 26th June – everyone welcome (foodie theme 'summery euro mash-up')
Saturday 17th July – straight singles (foodie theme 'abigail's party retro classics')

You'll get exact address upon booking and there is a £25 suggested donation and BYO booze but you'll get a cocktail and nibbles on arrival, three, four or even five courses (depending on that month's chosen cuisine), and veggies will be catered for (tell us upon booking), but not vegans.

She's launched a blog here and a Facebook group here.

UPDATE: Julie tells us she's organising a trial run, so if you're interested in putting her food to the test for free, get in touch via her Facebook group. And please come back on and tell us what it was like.

Yep, you can tell the country's going Tory.

I read that as "Super Club". I was imagining Fabric down at Brockley Cross.

Will you also have a gay singles night? Catman needs to get out a bit..

Who gets the donation ?

Always wonder if 'pop up restaurants' also use professional chefs? Or is these things are the £25 quid equivilant of eating tea around your mate's house.

The one i went to in Blackheath was run by a professional chef and the food was amazing. Certainly better than any restaurant in Blackheath... The review's on the site somewhere...

Aware I might be in a minority here, but it seems a shame not to make the veggie option vegan, doesn't it? Most vegetarians I know would be quite happy with a quality vegan option.

This sounds brilliant and I'll definitely come along. Would love to try the Singles Night but am away for the first one. Can someone leave a comment afterwards about the age range of those who turn up please? I'm 57 and I don't want to look stupid.......

Seems very unfair just to have a straight singles night. Why not just have a singles night?

I think it's a straight single night for dating purposes? Guessing they'll do a singles gay night at some point?

See Joan Ruddock got more votes than the others put together.

I'll try answer some queries:

Anon 15:17 – such cruel accusation! (I'm as anti-cameron as they come!)

Anon 16.06 – deptford market, sainsburys and the people I bought the trestle table and plates from (donation covers costs).

Anon 16.27 – not a professional chef, just enthusiastic foodie (though I did used to run a bar / restaurant and be chef for a bit), And... yes and no. If 'eating round your mate's house' is waffles and crispy pancakes' then no. If it's having a fun informal time with nice food and something a bit different.... yep.

Anon 17:47 – come to the trial run tonight and see! (email eatmeetsupperclub@gmail.com)

Name 18.19 – actually, nothing like come dine with me... sorry. See Ms Marmite Lovers blog to see what this kind of supperclub is.

Lady 20.10 – Yeah true, though I've always been a girl of loose morals! Seriously though, you may be right. Will consult veggie/vegan friends and consider.

Anon 22.45 – I'll let you know who shows, but might consider doing an over 50s night (when we get a bit more popular) if that'll help.

Anon 6.48 – unfortunately I live in a small house so can only fit 8/10 people at each one. So if it was 'generic singles' people would be disappointed, however we'll definitely be having a gay and lesbian singles nights too.

Hope that addresses some thoughts.

Thanks for paying some interest in it anyway, I'll post photos of tonight's trial run on the blog so you all have more of an idea of what to expect.

Hope trial run went well! Look forward to hearing the outcome of your friends' veggie thoughts. I'd love to come and join one night if you change your mind. Lots of luck with the venture anyway.
