Brockley Green Chain: Part 3
‘Those who can, hill’
A bitty section, this – lots of skipping around and road walking, I’m afraid. It would be more substantial if we were able to persuade the households circling Brockley Hill Park to convert it from a private park into a public one. Failing that, come the revolution, we’re gunning for you, BHP householders.
In the absence of revolutionary spirit we head instead from the southernmost edge of Ladywell Fields to the bijou Ravensbourne Park Gardens (not to be confused with what has now been re-named Brookmill Park, up in Deptford). This was originally the private park for the local gentry’s estate – it’s slick with private parks round here. Tells you all you need to know about the area, clearly – there is some nice property porn around, for the Kirstie Allsopp wannabes among you. Also, play ‘spot the vintage car’.

Thanks Kate.
I am intrigued by Brockley Hill Park - where exactly is it?
The Chandos in the good pub guide? Who'd have thought it. Let's not forget The Honor Oak pub who do a fab Sunday roast, Hopscotch cafe, and also Try Tapas good for good beer + food.
You can see it very clearly on Google maps. Type Brockley Hill Park into Google and the map comes up. fI think it's a private park that you can only reach from the backs of the houses backing onto it. Must be fantastic in the summer!
The Chandos is a hole!!!
wow! I never knew about the Brockley Hill. He're is some info on it that my other half dug up

and who said brockley wasnt boring!
Some may think it boring, but I am blown away by the idea of living close to central London and having access to a private park of more than 4 acres!! And this is the first I've heard of it after living here 10 years.
If Brockley wasn't close to central London I think I'd kill myself.
Huzzah for Lewisham!
I know an estate agent that valued a house there last year, and apparently Brockley Hill Park is pretty incredible. Tennis courts are included, of course.
Yes there is a private park, I live on it, leave us alone!
dont blame them, hate sharing parks with plebians
The Chandos is scary, I went in there once and was the only woman.
Also,I put in an offer for a house on Duncombe Hill once, this also backs on to Brockley Hill Park. The place is amazing. The woman selling messed us around and we missed out, but that is by the by.
