I am sorry Nick, but are you going to advertise every single movement of your wife's company in this website? I would completely understand it if Homemade London was located in Brockley… don’t get me wrong, I actually love the concept, but after an initial advertising as a Brockley entrepreneur, why posting every single movement?

Give the guy a break! Nick has devoted hours of his time keeping us locals up to date with general and local London life. Surely you can allow him a few plugs for his wifes brave new venture. All the best Nick and Nicola!

I wonder how many hours a week are spent keeping this site going, a lttle perk is not that offensive. Is it really that intrusive? it's not as if he's selling anti personel mines to Rawanda, although I look forward to the 'knit your own weapons' workshop.

yes, give him a break - no-one's forcing you to read the blog, it's a personal choice as it's his choice to write. I, for one, would quite welcome the chance to go to this London-based event. So thank you!

Of course Nick should be able to use this blog to plug his wife's new business. I am sure running this blog interferes with the time he would otherwise spend with his wife and young child.
For goodness sake give the guy a break-think positively-your own life might be enriched with a little less cynisism.
Ever thought of starting up your own blog for ultruistic reasons Anon?-thought not!

That's right "another mans wife" and a mother should never be described as hot.

Fine, but why would you assume that I'm male?

I don't.... Your point being?

A few separate points:

1. With regards to competitions, this site isn't the Oprah Winfrey show, we don't get lots of amazing prizes to give away, but we've had a few offers of free tickets for readers and every time we've promoted them, people have applied for them, so as long as someone's getting some value, I'll continue to do promotions. One day, I'll get to give away a holiday, until then, it's tickets to London events like this one.

2. With regards to Homemade London, sorry if you feel it's overkill, in this case we only had permission to give the tickets away via HML, so it was the only way to do the promotion. More generally though, I make no apology for the fact that I will occasionally promote the business, because it helps and I want the business to succeed.

3. Having said that, my intention wasn't for this to be the top story for the whole day (it was published yesterday), but I have been travelling all day today, so wasn't able to publish anything. New story coming shortly.

The thread comments have been despicable. A man is trying to promote a fledgling family business on a free site that he provides to a community during an extremely rough economic climate. The response has gone from mean spiritednesss to salacious comments about the man's wife from what sounds like a pervert slavering at a keyboard.
No word about the business. I also need to stop reading the comments.

There been one negative comment and one hotness rating. No slavering except in your head
