Brockley Common Gardening Day

The Brockley Cross Action Group are organising an afternoon of gardening down at Brockley Common, the community open space between Coulgate Street and Brockley Station, on Sunday 10th OCTOBER, 2.00-6.00pm.

The two main beds on the Common were planted in May by volunteers from the local community. BXAG members have been looking after the beds since, getting them through the dry period with a lot of watering. The plants are doing well but as you may have noticed we now have a lot of weeds, thanks to all the wet weather, and so we need to clear the beds in preparation for surface mulching later in the month, to get the planting ready for winter.
Please come and help us! All tools, gloves and refreshments will be provided - just bring stout footwear, a waterproof top just in case (but the weather forecast is good!) and some warm clothing.Even if you can come for an hour or so that would be great!

Why oh why does it take the foreign press to provide a write up? Frankly i find the site mentioned a bit over rated http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/08/world/europe/08puttenham.html?pagewanted=1&ref=world
